Create product
Use Create product when you need to add one managed product record manually in the selected Company Workspace.
This page is for creating a single product or variant record through the web interface. Use import, Mass Update, or an integration when you need to create or update many products at once.
Before you start
Check these things before creating a product:
- You are working in the correct current company.
- You have permission to create or edit products for that company.
- You know the product category. Products can be created only in a product-level category.
- The category has an active Effective Template.
- You have the required product identity data and mandatory attributes for that category.
If the category or template is not ready, create or update the category rules first. A product without the right category cannot be validated reliably.
How to create a new product
- Select the company workspace where the product should be managed.
- Open Company Workspace → New product.
- Choose the product-level category.
- Enter the product identity fields required by the category and your company workflow.
- Fill the mandatory attributes from the category Effective Template.
- Add useful optional data: descriptions, company codes, documents, images, package data, or catalog data.
- Save the product.
- Run Check data or review the validation messages shown on the product page.
- When the product is complete, submit, approve, or publish it according to your role and workflow.
What Actualog checks
Actualog checks the new product against the category rules:
- required and optional attributes;
- allowed values and value formats;
- numeric units of measurement;
- Product Name Template inputs;
- identity and duplicate-detection rules;
- template version stamp;
- workflow and publication readiness.
The product can be saved even if it still needs work, but it may remain Draft, Incomplete, Invalid, or Pending approval until the required data and governance steps are complete.
Where to review created products
After saving, open the product from Products overview to review status, data-quality issues, workflow state, publication visibility, and bulk actions.
Use Products overview when you need to find products that are incomplete, missing mandatory attributes, have identity conflicts, need template repair, or must be selected for Mass Update or export.
Common problems
I cannot select the category
The category may not be product-level, may be outside your workspace authority, or may not have an active template ready for product creation.
The product saves but is incomplete
Fill the mandatory attributes required by the category Effective Template, then run Check data again.
Actualog reports a duplicate or identity conflict
Review the identity fields and Product Name Template inputs. If the product is a real variant, model it through the category variant rules instead of creating an almost-duplicate product.
I need to create many products
Do not create them one by one. Use import, Mass Update, or an integration workflow so that data can be mapped, validated, and processed consistently.
